No deposit free spins in the UK

What they are, why they have become rarer, and what to check before you sign up.

What "no deposit" should mean

A no deposit free spins offer gives you a set number of spins on a named slot without paying in first. If an offer needs a deposit before the spins are credited, it is not a no deposit offer, however the headline is worded. Advertising rules say that calling something free when it is not is misleading.

Why they are rarer now

From January 2026 the UK Gambling Commission capped wagering requirements at 10x and ended mixed-product promotions. Combined with identity and affordability checks, this has made fully deposit-free offers less attractive for operators to run. Where they exist, they tend to be small, with low spin counts and tight caps. Treat any site promising large no deposit packages to UK players with suspicion.

The usual limits

  • Wagering on winnings: spin winnings are normally credited as bonus funds, with a wagering requirement of up to 10x for UK-licensed operators.
  • Maximum win cap: many offers limit how much can be withdrawn from the winnings.
  • Short expiry: spins and winnings often expire within a few days.
  • One game, fixed stake: spins usually apply to one slot at a set value per spin.
  • Identity checks: you will normally have to verify who you are before withdrawing, and sometimes before the spins are credited.

A realistic example

Suppose 10 spins at 10p each win £4 in total, credited as bonus funds with a 10x requirement. You would need to wager £40 before withdrawing, and a £20 win cap could apply on top. The practical value of an offer like this is small, so treat it as a way to try a site, not as free money.

How to protect yourself

  • Confirm the operator is on the Gambling Commission public register.
  • Read the full terms first, using our checklist.
  • Do not use another person's identity or open duplicate accounts to claim again. It breaches the terms and can lead to your winnings being confiscated.
  • Set deposit and time limits when you join, even if you have not deposited yet.
